Considering a Photo on Your Business Card

by: Kaye Z. Marks

How To Look 10 Years Younger Have you ever wondered how your business card would look like if you put your photo in it? Some would shudder at the thought of it but some would like to believe that adding a photo on print business cards make it more personalized.

Would you agree with this? To add a photo or not - that is the question. There are obviously advantages and disadvantages to adding your photo. Let us look at them and you decide whether to add or not to add.

Why do candidates plaster their faces and names on posters? Because they would like to be remembered. If you want a name to be remembered easily, put a face to it. That is an advice I heard from experts on how you could improve your ability to remember names. The trick is how you associate the name with the face. Take this name/face recall strategy that I always use. For instance, if someone introduces himself to me as a Rick, I would try to find something in his appearance that would sound like his first name like Rick with the big stick. Or Larry who is lanky.

Clients, associates, or even high school classmates are more likely to remember you if you have a photo. So when a client rummages through their rolodex, your photo on your print business card would help them remember you. There is even a greater probability that they would get the services of the business with a photo on it. A card with a face on it creates some sort of a connection right away. Agree?

If there are obvious advantages, there are of course some disadvantages. The photo might have been taken several years ago when you were 30 pounds lighter and 10 years younger. How do you suppose your contacts would react to it when you hand them your custom business cards? One thing is for sure, the photo would not help your clients remember you upon seeing you again. Unless you print your business cards regularly, photos can make your cards obsolete.

Despite some disadvantages, photos can really help because photos or faces build trust. A photo can help convey a sense of familiarity, a sense of trust. So if you are going to a client call and this is the first time you are going to meet this client, it would be an advantage if you could send a card with your photo in it. It is not only thoughtful; it will also help to put your client at ease with you. Try it.

Network Marketing for Baby Boomers

by: Ann Totten

Sociologists define those born between 1946 and 1964, or those who are currently 46-64 years of age, as "Baby Boomers".

Today, the baby boomers make up 28% of the US population.

What is one of the most impending issues with baby boomers today? Retirement. Baby boomers, on the older end, are retirement age. On the younger end, they are day dreaming about retirement. In the middle of this range are many baby boomers who are facing the reality that they are not ready.

While they may or may not be ready psychologically, we are going to discuss a financial aspect of retirement and leave the psychology to another article.

The financial aspects of retirement are huge. Just some of what someone approaching retirement needs to consider include health care expenses, living expenses in relation to lifestyle changes, children, and grandchildren. Many approach retirement before their kids are on their own. With today's economic troubles, many children are not leaving home as young as they were even 10 years ago. And, of course, baby boomers have been hearing for quite some time now that they can not rely on social security.

So, why the title of this article? Why would I make a suggestion that Network Marketing should be considered by baby boomers? Well, it just makes good sense that someone approaching retirement have some kind of business of their own that brings in additional income. This helps as you prepare for retirement and also to offset some of the expenses of lifestyle changes that you make.

Why a network marketing business instead of maybe a Mom & Pop store or a bed & breakfast?

First of all, with a network marketing business, you can work as little or much as you want. Of course, your income will reflect that, especially as you are building your business, but you can decide to take off a month to go on a cruise if you choose. With a traditional business, this is not always possible. If your network marketing business is a relatively mature one, you may even make money while you are on your cruise. This is definitely not possible with a traditional business unless you have employees.

Second, usually a network marketing business can be willed to your kids. A business such as this can be a legacy that continues to grow. And, really, isn't that a great legacy to leave your kids?

Third, it's portable... You know that cruise I just mentioned? Well, if you want to bring your laptop and cell phone, you can work your business while you are on "vacation". Oh, and, yes, when you visit your grandchildren, you can do a little work there too. If you want to, that is.

Fourth, it's international. Do your retirement plans include international traveling? Many network marketing companies have offices internationally. This means that you can include some international travel into your business planning and have a growing organization in another country. Need to visit that team of yours in the south of France? That may become a legitimate tax deduction.

Fifth, there are no territories with a network marketing business. If you want to move closer to your kids, but have a growing organization in your home town...no problem. You do not lose that organization and you can start a new one in your new home town.

Those are just a few reasons why baby boomers nearing retirement may want to consider a network marketing business as part of their wealth building plan.

Why Meditation?

by: Stephen Lau

Meditation has been the subject of many scientific studies. Scientists are becoming more interested in the role of meditation in human health.

Why meditation?

Positive thinking can bring about health and wellness.

But what has that to do with meditation?

We all know that positive thinking brings health and wellness in life. Unfortunately, often times, we simply cannot stay positive, even though we very much want to, because our minds seem to be out of control. That is, our minds seem to be controlling us, instead of we controlling our minds.

Why does the human mind run rampant?

It is because we subconsciously give reins to our thoughts, and our thoughts affect our bodies, which produce biological and chemical changes that, in turn, affect our minds -- and thus creating a vicious cycle of ill-health.

Why do we give reins to our thoughts? Why do we let our thoughts control our minds? Why can't we have positive thinking all the time?

The truth of the matter is that we do not consciously let our thoughts do that. Simply, there are too many things happening around us. Subconsciously, our minds just jump back and forth between events and happenings. As a result, our minds become chaotic. A chaotic mind creates internal chaos and disharmony -- a setting for biological and chemical changes within the human body. These changes may adversely affect the body's functions, making them incoherent and dysfunctional.

Why meditation?

Meditation helps to stabilize a chaotic mind. When you meditate, your mind focuses only on the present moment to the exclusion of everything else in the past or in the future. Meditation is single-minded focus that brings calmness to a chaotic mind.

Meditation is an antidote to stress, which is an important agent in premature aging. Your body begins to age due to deterioration in your endocrine system (which is responsible for manufacturing hormones). Your human growth hormone (HGH) keeps you healthy through repeated rejuvenation of your cells. In particular, your DHEA (dehydroeplandrosterone) is instrumental in delaying aging through controlling emotional and mental stress. Meditation gives your mind a meaningful break, just as restful sleep gives your body an opportunity to relax and to recover.

That meditation can contribute to anti-aging has been validated in a scientific study in which participants who regularly meditated had a significant increase of DHEA; in another study, those who meditated for more than 5 years were physiologically younger by more than 10 years than their chronological age; in yet another study published in "Neurobiology of Aging" meditation had "neuroprotective" benefits on the brain by increasing the brain's gray matters.

To sum up, meditation brings tranquility to a chaotic mind, thereby enabling us to control our thoughts, instead of the other way around. As an antidote to stress, meditation is anti-aging.

Sneakers Over 200 Years Old And Going Strong

by: Marcel Koert

You probably did not know it but sneakers are over 200 years old. The first sneakers, canvas shoes with rubber soles, where made in the late Georgian times, that is the late 18th century. These sneakers where very crude but when you would see one now you would definitely say that they where sneakers. Until 1917 nothing really happened with the sneakers. Then the US rubber company came up with a new type of sneaker more comfortable then before. The called those Keds. These where the first sneakers that went into mass production. The same year the Marquis converse company produced the first sneaker just for basketball, they called them Converse All-Stars.

At 1920 a German called Adi Dassler create the next innovation he created a sneaker called Adidas. This sneaker was mostly used for track and field. Track star Jessie Owens won four gold medals in the Olympics on Adidas sneakers. A nice twist is that the brother of Adi Dassler (Rudi) started another famous sport shoe company called Puma.

Until the 1950 the sneaker was predominantly a shoe that was used in sports, like track and field, tennis, basketball, etc but in the 1950's the younger generation started wearing the sneaker as a fashion statement. The trend setter for that generation was James Dean who wore sneakers in the movie Rebel without a Cause. This is also the time where you get the more outrageous designs printed on the canvas.

In the 1980's the company Nike came with a sneaker called Air Jordans. These sneakers where named after Micheal Jordan a famous Basketball player that had signed a contract with Nike to only where there sneakers when he was playing. This sneaker is still the best selling sneaker ever. The companies making sneakers started to compete for the best athletes to endorse there sneakers. The athletes where paid so much that it had a impact on the price of the sneaker themselves. The company that weren't able to pay the high prices for these athletes started looking for different arena's to sell the sneakers. They found the new up and coming sports like, skateboarding, cross training, fitness, etc.

In the last 10 years some of the sneaker makers have embraced new technologies. These new technologies consist of more spring in the heel trough air or real springs. But they also created sneakers that fit better and support your foot better. This all came about because of the input of those highly paid athletes. If they had to wear these sneakers they wanted also to get good performance out of them. The draw back of all these new technologies is the price a good sport's sneaker now can cost over 150 dollars.

Luckily for the people who like the old styles they are still there, even the starter of the modern sneaker Keds still makes sneakers. They have the old style but with modern designs and materials. People just enjoy wearing them new or old style. This was brought to you by Artattack2go this site sells Keds sneakers check out all of our products on artattack2go .
